WHAT TO KNOW
U.S. Central Command said American forces completed a wave of strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets across Iran, including air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites.
CENTCOM said the operation followed "recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members."
Iran responded by launching missiles and drones, according to Iranian semiofficial media.
A senior U.S. official told Fox News that all American personnel are accounted for, the U.S. intercepted the majority of Iranian missiles and no major damage has been reported at U.S. bases in the Middle East.
